About Me – Nicole Pickles
I am a Mother of two girls aged 10 and 13. I am a fully qualified Nursery Nurse, and have worked for 11 years in the local community in Coventry, delivering programmes to Parents in the area of Child Development, and Behaviour Management.
I studied Nursery Nursing from 1995-1998 followed by Aromatherapy and Anatomy & Physiology at Warwickshire College and qualified in August 1999. The following year I studied and qualified in Indian Head Massage. I have an HNC in Early Childhood Studies.
When I was pregnant with my 1st daughter I used Aromatherapy to alleviate Pregnancy related symptoms, such as, heartburn and leg cramps.
When my daughter was born I used Aromatherapy essential oils to help relieve dry skin, nasal congestion and wind, to name but a few. We went to a local Children’s Centre in Coventry to learn Baby Massage as well, when she was 6-7 months old.
In 2008 I studied Aromatherapy Pregnancy and Labour Massage through Shirley Price College in Hinckley.
Through my work as a Community Nursery Nurse in Health Visiting, I have seen the benefits to Mothers/Fathers and Babies who have been taught baby massage. In 2011 I decided to train as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) with Childways who teach the IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage) method of massage created by Vimala McClure. I qualified in February 2012 and began using Baby massage through my job. I worked with Parents and babies to help alleviate colic, to help Mothers with Post Natal depression to bond with their babies, to help babies with Reflux and Constipation too.
When my second daughter was born I used the massage techniques I had learnt on her from birth and I could really see the benefits, as I think it gave me a greater understanding of her baby cues.
I have a qualification in Paediatric First Aid (2019)
I still massage both my children, when they want to be massaged. Sometimes they reciprocate too.
